Basti, Uli & Holly’s Adventure #3
Driving two days down from Sweden to Cologne can result in some tiredness at the end. A driver who does not want to be named tried to park the caravan at a short time parking slot at the Cologne airport. What a stupid idea from Basti! As he wanted to rent a car at the Cologne airport he suggested to park the caravan here while he is going over to Europcar. By entering the gate our unnamed driver unfortunately hit the ticket automat and as well the caravan. What a finish just a few meters before the end of our first mission! The good news is we anyway wanted to repaint the caravan in Nerd-FM style. The race is over… and as u can see… nerds r humans 2!!!
The security guys had quite some fun with us . They simply could not believe how we hit the ticket machine.
Basti, Uli & Holly’s Adventure #2
Hamburg seemed to be a good place to stay over night and without any doubt there is only one hotel for real nerds: The legendary Atlantic! As the folks from the Atlantic were so proud that Nerd-FM decided to stay there we even were allowed to park right in front of the hotel with the caravan. Thanks again for that people!

See this picture from “Panic Rocker” Udo Lindenberg who is living since years in the Atlantic. What a nerdy apartment.
Basti, Uli & Holly’s Adventure #1
Whilst Kurt took the 1218km challenge back to Belgium using public transport (what an un nerdy way), the rest of the gang hit the road with the nerd mobile and the caravan. With Uli sitting in the back we got the feeling that we have much more grip on the back wheels and so Basti was driving like mad to win the race.
Everybody loves Nerd-FM and so it was not a big surprise that the ferry boat to Denmark was waiting ONLY for the real nerds. Basti and Holly decided to use the short break to even improve their driving skills. A racing simulator at the ferry boat was the perfect asset to do so!
Kurt’s Adventure #3
One bus to take to go to Goteborg’s Landvetter Airport. Strange they don’t pronounce the “d” in “Landvetter”, so why have it in there in the first place. Our Nerd-FM.com suggestion is go for “Lanvetter Airport”. Swedish authorities have been informed.

Thirty minutes later (in fact it was 29:38 min), arrival at Lanvetter Airport.

Flight at 17:50 to Brussels. Arrival in Brussels Airport at 19:45.

Running through exit halls, hence why this picture is unsharp, taken at a speed of 35km an hour.

Took taxi to Intel Kontich office with exact arrival time on site of 20:47:06. Quick call to Holly, it was a clear win for public transport.
Kurt’s Adventure #2
Time to check the Nerd-FM.com readiness level of Goteborg. It started pretty well.

And got even better. A city really in full swing heading towards XMas.

Great to find out they have a Donuts Fabriken, yes a Donuts Factory! I do wonder though if they have permission for a high tech production facility in the middle of the city?

Too bad some streets were not accessible, except if you are a dad with just one kid. It took me a while to get out of the centre under these conditions.

Do also appreciate the local humor. Everyone knows the latest Pixar movie is UP, but here they try to confuse people and call it UPP (with double P) combined with the right visual.

Time now to head to the bus. Nerd-FM.com readiness level of Goteborg is 3.4 stars.
Kurt’s Adventure #1
Arriving with city bus on Sunday morning at 09:30 at train station Jönköping. Train to Goteborg scheduled to leave at 10:01 (that’s a wonderfully nerdy time). I could have taken the next train, but figured if I would then miss the connection in sweet Falköping, I’d be too late.

A stressful 5 minutes connection time at Falköping train station, euh no. Just crossing 2 meters of distance.

I walked very very slowly and just made it on time. Nice blue chairs, we love blue.

Arrival in Goteborg around 12:00. Putting luggage in train station and off for a nerd level check of Goteborg.

Kurt Won The Challenge
For our fans eagerly awaiting the outcome, now you know.
In an relentless nerve breaking challenge between a 70′s car and 70′s caravan combination versus a 2009′s public transport (bus/train/bus/plane/taxi) combination, Kurt finished his 1218km to the Intel Kontich office arriving on Sunday evening at 20:47:06. At that exact time Holly, Basti and Uli had arrived at their Hamburg hotel, 751 km away from departure. Outcome pretty clear.
Read details about their trips on our site. And read how our caravan ended up … damaged with 2 holes.
But the office is at least very happy to have it’s employees back. Upon arrival in Kontich office, 4 new plants were placed as a celebration gift to the Nerd-FM.com crew.

We Love Flensburg
We stopped there on our first evening, when it was really dark and our Nerd-FM.com adventure had just started. But stats now clearly show we have 13 unique visitors from Flensburg. It must have been a nightmare to read the URL written on the caravan and the car under the severe darkness and rainy weather conditions. So for those who did, our hearts are with you!
